Aquamarine - the March Birthstone

aquamarine

Aquamarine was named from the Latin word meaning sea water. Its color ranges from blue to greenish blue, and it is often confused with Blue Topaz. Aquamarine is a member of the Beryl mineral family - from which also come Morganite - (pink), Golden - (Heliodor), and Emerald - (green).

Aquamarine was considered a symbol of happiness and foresight. The wearer of the stone was said to be able to conquer wickedness and evil. Water in which Aquamarine had been soaked, was believed to cure eye troubles, and stop hiccups.
