Mokume Gane Pendant with Garnet.

A new jewelry design for me, I hand forged and patterned this mixed metal pendant of copper and brass. This ancient Japanese sword  technique involves fusing 21 layers of alternating metals and hammering patterns to create unique patterns in metal. A very lengthy and involved process rewards us with unique patterns and colors in metal. I cut the spessartite garnet from a crystal from Kenya. It has a nice burnt orange hue that complements the metal colors beautifully. Hinged construction allows the pendant to swing freely and includes an 18” sterling silver chain. 2”L x ½ “ W
