The Artist
Lisa Ronay has been making jewelry for 25 years, first as an apprentice, then working on her own designs.
She graduated with a BA from UC Berkeley, specializing in Ocean Studies and has incorporated this background
into her work today. She has taken jewelry courses from the Revere Academy in San Francisco and The Mendocino
Art Center Jewelry Program in Mendocino, California.
She collects all the beachglass from beaches on the pacific coast, from Southern California to the islands off the
Washington shore. Each piece is selected with jewelry in mind, whether it's the rare red glass or the popular
aquamarine, reminiscent of the ocean.
Then the pieces are set by Lisa in fine silver, sterling silver, or 14 K gold. The shape of the glass often is the deciding
factor in whether it becomes a necklace, a pair of earrings, or a ring. The resulting jewelry is often one of a kind and
combines the soft colors of ocean glass with its organic shape and the fine techniques of metalsmithing.
