Sudha Irwin was born and raised in India. She grew up in the countryside in the province of Bihar,
many hours in her day filled with discovering beauty and design in nature. She was admitted to the
Arts College of Punjab University but dissuaded from pursuing an Arts degree. A life devoted to
creativity was not an option for women from her background. When she moved to the US, Sudha discovered
tremendous space for women of all backgrounds to pursue artistic expression. As soon as her family life
allowed, she turned to metal arts as life-giving meditation on nature and natural forms.
Her work in silver, gold, precious and semi-precious stones can be seen at the Marin Jewelers Guild in San Rafael.
